Public support for the EU is sliding. Pew recently surveyed eight countries.
Of the eight, only in Germany and Italy do majorities support the EU. Only in Germany does a majority think the EU strengthens the economy. Amazingly, in Italy only a small minority (11%) say the EU has helped their economy, but a majority (58%) support the EU anyway. I don’t know why but perhaps it is because being ruled from Rome is so tiresome and frustrating that being ruled from Brussels is welcome relief.
